As Co-Founder and Managing Partner, I remain excited about the mission of Quartz Financial after 15 years as a company. As a comprehensive wealth management firm offering Family Office Services to wealthy families, we guide our clients through the most important financial decisions they will ever make. We function as their specialist in the areas of financial planning, investment management and insurance strategies, while coordinating services of the other important disciplines typically needed by wealthy families.
We reinforce our commitment to sudden wealth families by writing four books on the topic. Sudden Wealth…It Happens, Sudden Wealth... Blessing or Burden?,Sudden Wealth... The Workbook and Journal, and Single... Not by Choice. These four books along with the Sudden Wealth Video Series and the Sudden Wealth Center speak to our passion of educating the public on the challenges and myriad of solutions in handling sudden wealth situations and the ensuing generational challenges. We are also thrilled to give back to the industry by educating financial advisors across the country on our processes. Many of our family’s generational wealth began as a sudden wealth situation, so it is a natural fit for Quartz to work with the grandparents, parents, children and even grandchildren.
Since 1989 I have held key roles in handling the largest client relationships of the firms merged through Texas Commerce Bank, Chase, Bank One and JPMorgan. I also served as a Product Director for New York Life Insurance where I trained life insurance agents across a five- state area on the specifics and nuances of investing. I am proud of my background in institutional fixed income strategies, particularly in municipal bonds, which has proven to be vital as Quartz manages municipal bond portfolios for our clients.
I consider myself to be an Austin native even though I did not arrive here until age 12! I bleed orange and am a graduate of The University of Texas. I have been fortunate to serve on the Boards of Any Baby Can, and Conspirare, and continue to be a fan of both organizations. My family is a member of the Hills Country Club and the University of Texas Club. I am married to Christy Rust, business owner for senior citizen services, and have one daughter, Kayleigh, and three stepsons, Dawson, Duncan, and Westin.
