As a founding partner of The Sudden Wealth Center, an educational outreach effort designed to enhance the understanding of sudden wealth issues among those experiencing windfalls and the financial industry that supports them, Shane speaks nationally to these groups, and co-authored four books on the topic, Sudden Wealth… It Happens; Sudden Wealth… Blessing or Burden?; Sudden Wealth… The Workbook and Journal; and Single… Not by Choice. These resources, along with the Sudden Wealth Video Series, are integral parts of The Sudden Wealth Center.
Shane has over 30 years of financial planning, wealth management, and institutional investment management experience. Prior to co-founding Quartz Financial in 2007, he held senior advisory positions with major Wall Street investment firms and private banks. While with JPMorgan and its predecessor firms, he was responsible for strategic advice, team oversight, and coordination for the firm’s wealthy clientele. Prior to this role, he was a Regional Principal for multiple private banking investment offices across Texas overseeing client assets in excess of $500 million. Additionally, Shane was a Financial Planning Specialist and Director for Citigroup Smith Barney’s Corporate Client Group and Institutional Fixed Income Group. The institutional investment management and advisory skills honed with these major firms is a distinct benefit to the Quartz wealth management clients.
Shane holds an MSBA specializing in Finance from Texas Tech University and a BBA concentrating in Finance from Texas State University. He is an LPL Registered Principal holding series 7, 24, 53, 63 and 66 securities registrations with LPL Financial and Group 1 Life and Variable Contract Insurance License. He has been an active CFP® practitioner since 1998.
Shane is a member of The Hills Country Club and is active in the community through involvement with the Financial Planning Association, Texas State University Leadership Council, Texas State University Athletics Task Force, and St. Edward's University Planned Giving Advisory Council. Over his career, Shane has also been involved with Eanes Education Foundation, the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas, the Financial Therapy Association, The Boy Scouts of America, and board member with the Austin Theater Alliance.
