September 4, 2020 is a milestone that marks Quartz’s 13th year as a company. As we embark on our 14th year, we can’t help but think back to 2007. You may remember that the U.S. bear market of 2007-2009 began just a few weeks later. The S&P 500 lost approximately 50% of its value during the ensuing financial crisis driven 17-month bear market.
We will forever be grateful to long-term clients who followed us to Quartz during that period. The trust they have had in us for all these years is humbling. You know who you are… Thank you! Our background in bonds, and our philosophy of “trying to protect and preserve first, then grow” was the catalyst that sparked many new families to join the Quartz family. Changing the status quo of financial advice gained momentum and despite the turmoil of that time, Quartz not only survived, but we thrived.
2020 feels a bit like 2007. Granted we are not in a financial crisis, but we are involved in a fight that seems like it is lasting forever. The uncertainty and severity of the times creates anxiety much like 2007-2009. History reminds us that this too shall pass, but in the meantime the philosophies and practices that have served us for over 30 years remains the key for embracing the newest Quartz clients in 2020. We thank you for your brief time with us and welcome you with the same enthusiasm for every client we have welcomed over the past 13 years. We are blessed to have the best clients in the industry.
There is always plenty of work to do for our clients and plenty of credit to pass around, especially to our professional partners in the legal, banking, accounting, property and life insurance and family therapy industries. We cannot change the status quo of financial advice without your partnership.
If indeed 2020 feels a little like 2007, recall that the crisis did pass and 2009 began a bull market that lasted for 11 years. Perhaps history will repeat itself once again.
For Quartz, we continue to appreciate all of you for your support of our mission. Thank you again and we hope to see you in person very soon.
To your financial health,
